BEAUTY FORMULAS Cranberry Moisturising Hand Cream- Review

Hey Guys!

It was few days back ,we were shopping at the nearest mall just to grab few essentials since the season is changing so is the skin care needs. At NewU billing counter this BEAUTY FORMULAS Hand cream grabbed my attention (I don`t know if it’s a sells strategy at NewU, I always end up tossing few more items in my cart from the countertop specially the handy travel size ones & I am not complaining these are really useful ones…Good job guys!!)

I wash my hands several times in a day (Sometimes I wonder if I have hand washing OCD :P) also dry weather adds on to it …makes my hand rough & I need to keep re-applying some hand lotion to keep them soft & supple.  So, I am always on a good hand cream hunt.

This has become my favourite now & I always carry in my bag. It is formulated to deeply nourish your dry hands. The non-greasy formula gets easily absorbed, leaving your hands feeling soft, smooth and supple.

Favorite Sunscreen : Suncros AquaGel Review

Hi Guys,

Spring is here..Hope you all are all set for the summer time. Time to take out our Cute Floral & colorful Dresses but along with it need to take care of our skin in a different way too. Hydrate it well drink lots of fluids & don`t forget to protect it from the sun.

A lot of us ignore the importance of sunscreen in the skin care regime… But to have a fair, supple & youthful skin you need to take good care of your skin from dust, pollution & harmful ultra violet radiations from the sun. Also, the ozone layer is depleting and your body needs shielding. Sun exposure without the shield can get you pre-mature aging, wrinkles, blemishes, age spots even skin cancer.

suncrose-theweekendcloset2

I happen to have an oily skin & finding the right sunscreen was very challenging for me. Some were very sticky others made by face white. Suncros was prescribed to me by my dermatologist when I visited Berkowits for a consultation & I absolutely love it now. Dermatologist recommend to apply it 3-4 times a day between mornings till 4 pm. Sometimes I forget but mostly I do follow it.

What i love the most about Suncros is that it gives your face a dewy glow & due to its texture, it can act as a nice primer for your everyday makeup plus the sun protection. DOUBLE WOWW!

suncrose-theweekendcloset

Suncros Aqua Gel SPF 26 is Non-greasy, water resistant sunscreen especially suited for oily skin, humid conditions and excessive sweating. Contains Nano-sized Zinc Oxide for complete UV-A and UV-B protection. Superior UV-A protection compared to ordinary sunscreens.

suncrose-theweekendcloset8suncrose-theweekendcloset4suncrose-theweekendcloset7

Pros:

  • Good SPF of 26 which is ideal for Indian climate.
  • Gives a nice dewy glow to the skin can be used as a primer.
  • Not greasy & doesn’t leave a ghostly white cast like most sunscreen.
  • Gel based and water resistant I have to wash my wash thoroughly with water to take it off
  • Value for money one tub last a long way (100gms tub for Rs.375)

Cons:

  • It takes a minute to absorb properly into your skin.
  • Might look shiny when freshly applied but soon it gets changed into a dewy glow.
  • Comes in a tub so you need to make sure your hands are clean when using it.

suncrose-theweekendcloset9-2suncrose-theweekendcloset10

They also have a variant of SPF o50+, PA+++, UVA & UVB protection, priced at Rs.545 for 50g for extra protection when you are planning to go out in the direct sunlight for longer duration.

Give it a try & let us know if turns out to be your favorite Sunscreen too….

Coloressence-Intense Long Wear Liquid Lip Color Candy Orange Review

coloressence-candy-orange-review-1

I know we are a little late in posting our first review being a beauty blog but as they say  “Better late then Never! ” I was shopping at GIP few days back & came across  Coloressence kiosk & thought of checking it out & I ended up buying couple of things but today I am going to review their Intense Long Wear Liquid Lip Color in shade Candy Orange. I love this color it is one of those shades that brightens up your face. Keeping up to its name it does reminds me of the orange candy that I use to have at school.

coloressence-candy-orange-review

I am obsessed with matte lipsticks & I don’t like liquid lipsticks much but this one turns out to be an exception. The formula is light yet highly pigmented, that does stay on for all day. It easily survives through meals and small snacks during the day. It glides smoothly as it claims and it may look glossy at application but it settles down to a matte finish within a minute. It is handy & I often carry it my jeans pocket.

It is priced at INR 350 for 8ml.

coloressence-candy-orange-swatches1
It looks glossy at application
coloressence-candy-orange-swatches2
Swatch after it turns matte in a minute
coloressence-candy-orange-swatches
Tint after multiple attempts of taking it off
PROS:

  • It is intensely pigmented & long-lasting.
  • Non-transferable once it dries.
  • Very compact & easy to carry (even in your jeans pocket & it doesn’t show a bulge)
  • It stays on without reapplication for good 5-6 hrs even with meals.
  • Shelf Life of 3 yrs.

CONS:

  • It does makes your lips dry after sometime.
  • It is hard to take off as the color is too intense & may leave a trace behind. You need a good make-up remover. I personally remove it with coconut oil.

If you have used it do let us know in the comments.

Water Rocks ! Drink More Water

benefits-of-water

Hi All,

How all of you have been?

Yes, I know you have heard it before, multiple times actually..but what I also know is you still need a reminder to drink adequate water. But what I am not sure of is DO YOU KNOW THE BENEFITS OF WATER?

This Simple, Free & Humble drink have many Health and Beauty benefits. Experts advice to drink around 8 to 10 glass of water every day.

I personally drink around  3 ltr to 4 ltr water on a normal day. Water is so beneficial, so easy, so free yet so easily overlooked. It’s really a no brainer (actually our brain is 90% water!!!). Our body is about 70% water, the majority of your blood and every cell in your body is composed of water. Therefore, you need water to function properly.

Benefits of Drinking More Water :

1. Weight Loss :   When you’re dehydrated, fat cells become harder to break down and so anyone actually trying to diet will find it a lot harder if they don’t drink very much. A lot of people confuse feeling thirsty with feeling hungry so they eat when their body actually wants them to drink something.

Research has shown that drinking 500ml water prior to each of your daily meals could cause you to eat fewer calories per meal, triggering weight loss.

2. Flushes Out Toxins & Improve Skin : Water flushes out toxins and from body and gets rids of waste by sweating and urine. It improves skin and reduce the risk of pimples.Gets rid of wrinkles. It’s the best anti-aging treatment around!

3. Kidney Health: Your kidneys do an amazing job of cleansing and ridding your body of toxins as long as your intake of fluids is adequate.

4. Digestion & Constipation : Adequate fluid and fiber is the perfect combination, because the fluid pumps up the fiber and acts like a broom to keep your bowel functioning properly.

5. Headaches & Dizziness : Your headache could be a symptom of being dehydrated so drinking water should make it go away.

6. Make Your Exercise Session Better : You don’t need me to tell you that you need to replace the fluid you lose sweating during exercise. You perform your best while working out, when your body is well hydrated.

If you think you need to be drinking more WATER, here are some tips to increase your fluid intake and reap the benefits of water:

  1. Always keep a water bottle with you on your desk, in your car or in your bag when you are on the go.
  2. If you don’t like the taste of water try having infused water.
  3. Choose beverages like coconut water, Butter milk etc. over bottled beverages.

What are you waiting for..just grab that glass of water and before you will know all these benefits of water will be inside your body…Cheers to better you !

Hair Rinse – Herbal and All Natural

Hi All,

Who doesn’t like healthy, shiny, luminous hairs? But the sad truth is very few have them.

We all use so many chemicals & heat on our hair these days curling, straightening, blow drying, hair dye & what not… on top of that pollution & dry weather… poor hair have to bear so much that it tends to become dry, frizzy & dull.

We have some all natural DIY hair rinse recipe that you can include in your hair care regime, you can make them easily at home with things available in your house hold. Although hair rinse are not very popular but I personally love them & I have noticed a visible difference in my hair since I started using them. Natural hair rinse nourishes your hair with vital nutrients. It promotes hair growth, balances pH level of the scalp, improves the blood circulation in the scalp & conditions your hair. Below are some of my favorite hair rinse that I have been using for years now:

img_4523

Lemon Juice Rinse: After you are done shampooing your hair. Squeeze half a lemon in the mug full of water & rinse your hair with it. You can use this once in a week. To add life and shine to dull hair.

lemon2

Apple cider vinegar: Mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar to 1 mug of water. Use as a final rinse after shampooing and then rinse well with cool water. This will add shine and bounce to your hair.

apple cider vinegar.jpg

Hibiscus Flowers & leaves Rinse: Take few Hibiscus leaves or flower or both whatever you can get. Keep it in the water for 12 hours and then boil it to make hot infusion. Let it cool down. Rinse your hair with it after shampooing.

hibuscus

Reeta ,Shikakai & Amla Rinse: My mom has been using this for years & she has amazing hair, it works as a hair tonic, that makes your hair lustrous & also adds volume to your limp hair. You can get the dried Reeta, Shikakai & Amla at any local grocery store very easily. Take 3 pods of shikakai, 1 reetha berry & few Amla with 2 cups of water. Bring it to a boil & strain. Let it cool down then you can use this rinse in place of your regular shampoo if your hair is not too greasy.

sra

Neem Hair Rinse: As neem has got antibacterial & antifungal properties, can prevent your hair from scalp infections and also provide strength to the hair. Boil neem leaves in water and then filter the same. Let it cool down, rinse your hair with the neem water .

5 Quick & Easy Running Late Hairstyles

Winter mornings = Lazy mornings

Warm cozy bed & snooze button? Not a good combination 🙈🙈 Just 5 more min & you wake up after 30 min realizing you are in trouble!  Bummer.. Gotta run !!

5 min shower ( or no shower 😛 ) No breakfast..hair a mess & out you go…

Here are few quick & easy hairstyles to step up your hair game for those lazy days. Second & third day hair are just perfect for these hairstyles. These are so easy that you can do it even in your office or college restroom & you are all set to rock the world like a style diva!

The 2 min “Rope Braid”:

  • Brush your hair thoroughly.
  • You can choose to make the braid on a side or the regular way.
  • Grab a section from your forehead & divide it into two.
  • Start twisting.
  • With each twist add a little section of hair.
  • Continue till you reach the end & secure with an elastic band.
  • Loosen up the braid to give some dimension.

rope-braid

Easy ” Doughnut Bun”: Tie your hair into a regular high ponytail. Keep a doughnut bun handy for such mornings(It is easily available in the market or you can do a DIY with a sock, totally up to you) Run it till the end of the ponytail & start wrapping your hair around it. Keep on twisting till you reach the end. You should have a nice bun at the end..You can secure it with bob pins if you feel the need.

sock-bun

Everyday “Fishtail Braid”: Now this one I do agree looks complicated, but in reality it’s not once you get the hold of it.

  • Just grab your hair as you would for a ponytail.
  • Divide in two equal sections.
  • Grab a small section from both the sections from outer side & cross over.
  • Continue braiding till you reach the end & secure it with a rubber band.
  • Loosen up the braid to give some dimension to the braid. Remember the messier the better!

The Elastic HeadbandAnother savior that makes it look like you have put in a lot of effort on your hair but only we know the reality 😉 Just secure the headband in place & wrap the hair around the elastic of the headband.. & here you go! classy.. adjust your bangs to get that effortless look.

bun

The “Messy Bun”: You can never go wrong with a messy bun.  The best thing about this hairstyle is it doesn’t have to be perfect. All you need is a rubber band & few bob pins. Grab your hair into a ponytail . Just twist and secure with other elastic band. Loosen up the bun from some places secure with few bob pins so that it stays in place.  You can also do it on a side.. High or low.. Go experiment whatever looks best on you!

Eyeliner Styles to make your eyes bigger

Standards of beauty keeps on changing but “BIG EYES” are one thing that have always been considered as one of benchmarks for a women’s beauty.Well it couldn`t be just a matter of chance that we have so many bollywood songs dedicated to a heroine’s eyes.. Right? “Kajra re Naina..?”, “Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhein” & so on.. All have one thing in common yes! EYES!!

Some are blessed naturally with big eyes, for the rest we have few tricks that can make your eyes look bigger:

The Winged Eyeliner: The most popular one right now. It gives the illusion of the bigger eyes & fuller lashes. Liquid eyeliner works best for the winged eyes. The trick is to start with a thin line & then build it up gradually.

  • Line your upper eyelid as you would normally.
  • Use an eyeliner pencil or a tape to measure where the line would go if you exceed your lower lash-line.
  • Now work your way up. The line should extend diagonally up and out & you have The Perfect Winged eyes. Don`t forget to put on a thick coat of mascara & I personally like to not apply anything on the lower lash line just a coat of mascara.

Double Winged Eyeliner: Now this one is a trick from Marilyn Monroe’s make-up secrets. Carefully draw a winged line on the lower lash line just parallel to the winged line on your upper eyelid or you can also do a small wing with an eyeliner pencil & blend with a brush. The lower wing gives the illusion of fake shadow coming from the upper lashes. Fill the gap between the two lines (upper lid eyeliner and “fake shadow” line on the lower lash line) with white pencil to make your eyes look distinctive.

The Egyptian Style: This one is a little dramatic look for the ones who don`t mind experimenting. But for the rest, you can always tame it down. The only thing distinctive about the Cleopatra Eyes is the inner corner. It’s like a cats eye…well almost. The upper wing is more dramatic & thicker & runs up to the tear ducts of your eyes kind of makes a little triangle there .Use the same eyeliner liner to line the lower lash line too connecting both & you have the Cleopatra Eyes. Optionally you can cover your lids in gold eye shadow again do as you like…

The Arabic Style: What is the first image that comes to our minds when I say Arabic make-up? Mysterious eyes peeping out of a hijab.. Just the eyes.. Here is how to achieve the look.

  • Do the Cleopatra eyeliner.Look where the crease of your eyelid is, take a black or brown eyeliner pencil & line it.
  • Take a small brush blend the line you just created with a darker shade into the crease. You can go bold & apply the liquid liner in the crease too…

The Colored Eyeliners: There are so many colours to choose from but the most popular ones are Blue, Green & Gold. If you wish to jazz up the look a bit.. you can do any of the above mentioned eyeliner styles with your favourite colours or you can mix it with the black eyeliner.

img_4120

Smudged Eyeliner: You need a pencil or a gel eyeliner for this one. Simply apply the eyeliner on the lower & upper lash line & blend it with the same eyeshadow to get the Smokey effect. It gives the impression of fuller lashes & hence bigger eyes.

(P.S. please excuse the bad quality of below image, lighting was pretty bad)

These are few of my favorite eyeliner styles & believe me I get a lot of compliments for my eyes 😉

Possibilities are endless go out experiment & find what looks best on you…

Hey All,

We are back with another skin care post. In today’s post we are going discover the beauty benefits of Coconut Oil. Yes, there is more to coconut oil then just the CHAMPI 😛

pure-cold-pressed-extra-virgin-coconut-oil

Coconut oil is widely used by beauty devotees, bloggers and celebrities worldwide. This tops the list in must have product in one’s vanity. It’s antibacterial and anti fungal and can be used for skin care, hair care, weight loss and even freshening your breath..and much more!

Some people even put it in their coffee, green tea & smoothies for it’s health benefits but today we are sticking to it’s beauty use.

1. Moisturizer : Just apply it like you apply your normal store bought night cream or moisturizer after cleansing and toning your face, and you will wake up with soft, nourished and plump skin next morning.

2. Eye Cream : Our under eye skin is very delicate and is the first place to show signs of aging, such as wrinkles or fine lines. Coconut oil is super hydrating it prevents these wrinkles and banish fine lines.

3. Makeup Remover : It is the best makeup remover one can have, no matter how stubborn your mascara is or the longevity your eyeliner promise, it doesn’t stand a chance in front of it.

4.Highlighter : Simply apply coconut oil on the high points of your face over your make up, and you’re glowing in no time.

5. Lip Balm : Simply apply coconut oil on lips and it nourishes for a pout free of cracks and flakes.

6. Body Scrub : Options are unlimited mix it with sea salt, sugar, coffee powder (personal favorite), baking soda.

7. Reduce Wrinkle and Fine lines :  Coconut oil help slow the aging process while keeping skin hydrated…making it soft, supple, and glowing.

8. Age spots: Applying coconut oil directly to the age spot will help them fade.

9. Post Wax/Shaving Balm : Apply before the shaving process to prep your skin or after you are done waxing to remove the wax from skin.

10. Eyelashes: Brush on to eyelashes to boost their growth and pigmentation.

12. Remedy for fungal nail infections : The anti fungal fatty acids found in coconut oil makes it so effective for treating nail fungus and infections. Just prepare a portion by heating coconut oil with “Asafoetida”commonly called as hing & store in a bottle. Apply to the affected area 3-5 times a day & get instant relief. I can tell you from personal experience.

Above are a very few beauty/skin usage of coconut oil, there are still 100 of more ways in one can use it.
